Mesh Readiness Assessment

A leadership-level assessment of whether an organization and transformation are ready for governed agentic work.

Use this assessment before selecting a platform or scaling a pilot. Score each statement from 1 — largely absent to 5 — consistently established, and record evidence rather than relying on opinion.

Value and sponsorship

  • We can name transformation bottlenecks or quality failures worth solving.
  • Each proposed agent has a business or transformation owner.
  • Success can be measured against a current baseline.
  • Leadership understands that work and decision rights may need redesign.

Knowledge and evidence

  • Authoritative project and SAP sources can be identified.
  • Important decisions and their rationale are recorded.
  • Artifacts use sufficiently consistent identifiers and versions.
  • Access, retention and provenance can be controlled.

Process and operating model

  • Target workflows, decisions, exceptions and handoffs can be described.
  • Human accountability is clear.
  • Teams have the capacity to review and improve agent outputs.
  • Product ownership can continue after the pilot.

Governance and trust

  • Use cases can be classified by impact and autonomy.
  • Security, privacy, legal and control owners can engage early.
  • Evaluation criteria and representative cases can be defined.
  • Override, incident and retirement procedures exist or can be established.

Technology and integration

  • Approved model and agent services are available.
  • Identity and least-privilege tool access can be implemented.
  • The architecture supports logging, policy enforcement and versioning.
  • Relevant repositories and tools have usable interfaces.

Adoption and capability

  • Users understand both the value and limitations of agents.
  • Subject-matter experts are available to curate skills and evaluations.
  • Leaders are prepared to change roles, incentives and delivery routines.
  • Professional development will be redesigned where junior work changes.

Interpret the result

Do not reduce the result to one average. A critical weakness in data protection or accountable ownership can stop a use case even when other scores are high.

Choose a pilot whose risk fits the current maturity. Turn the weakest relevant dimensions into explicit learning and improvement actions.
