Cross-Artifact Consistency Checker

Detects contradictions and broken traceability across requirements, designs, configuration, tests, controls and operating documentation.

Overview

The Cross-Artifact Consistency Checker protects the transformation from document drift.

Lifecycle: Prepare through Run
Default autonomy: Analyze and recommend
Human owner: Solution Quality Lead or Chief Architect
Typical consulting roles: Solution architect, quality manager, configuration lead, test lead, PMO analyst; typically senior consultant to director

The implementation challenge

An S/4HANA program can have individually well-written artifacts that disagree with one another. A process decision changes, but the design, role concept, test and training material do not all follow.

Mission and boundaries

The agent compares connected artifacts, identifies contradictions, missing updates and broken links, and proposes the records that require review.

It does not declare which conflicting artifact is correct or silently rewrite approved content.

Role across SAP Activate

  • Prepare: establish naming, identifiers and traceability rules.
  • Explore: compare workshop outcomes, process decisions and backlog items.
  • Realize: check alignment across design, build, tests, controls and learning assets.
  • Deploy: detect inconsistencies in release, cutover and support documentation.
  • Run: assess the downstream impact of production changes.

Key use cases

  • find requirements without a design or test.
  • detect conflicting organizational values across documents.
  • identify training material based on superseded processes.
  • check whether an approved change updated all dependent artifacts.
  • compare configuration records with the intended design.

Required skills

Artifact semantics, traceability models, SAP solution design, process and configuration concepts, testing, controls, release management and knowledge graphs.

How it works

The agent normalizes identities and relationships across the transformation knowledge base. It applies deterministic rules where possible and semantic comparison where meaning matters. Outputs include contradictions, orphan artifacts, change impact and confidence.

Human–agent operating model

The agent continuously scans at a scale no project team can sustain manually. Artifact owners investigate and resolve findings. The architect or quality lead arbitrates material conflicts.

Governance and risks

Similarity is not equivalence. Variants may be intentional, and language can obscure legitimate differences. Findings should be explainable, source-linked and suppressible only with an owner and rationale.

Success and maturity

Measures include inconsistency escape rate, traceability coverage, time to propagate a decision, false-positive rate and defects caused by outdated artifacts.

Example

A workshop approves a two-step sales release. The agent finds a one-step rule in the role design and no negative test for unauthorized release. It routes both items to their owners before UAT.
