Concept questions

Short answers to common questions about ETM4S4 and agentic ERP transformation.

Is ETM4S4 an SAP product?

No. ETM4S4 is an independent reference model for agentic S/4HANA transformation.

Is it another implementation methodology?

No. It is designed along SAP Activate and the wider RISE with SAP Methodology. It proposes an operating model for people and agents executing and assuring transformation work.

Does the mesh replace consultants?

It changes consulting work more than it eliminates expertise. Agents can absorb preparation, comparison, traceability, monitoring and artifact production. Humans remain responsible for judgment, relationships, leadership and material decisions.

Why not use one powerful general-purpose agent?

ERP transformations require different knowledge, authority and assurance relationships. Specialization makes skills, access and accountability easier to define and test.

Does every organization need all agents?

No. The catalog is a reference architecture. A deployment should select agents according to implementation approach, scope, risk and organizational maturity.

Can this be implemented today?

Parts can. Grounded assistants, structured extraction, workflow agents and tool integrations are already practical. A complete, continuously assured mesh requires stronger knowledge foundations and operating discipline.

Where should an organization start?

Choose a bounded, measurable use case with good source information, available reviewers and reversible outcomes. Begin in shadow or draft-only mode.

How much autonomy should agents receive?

Only as much as their performance, controls, observability and recovery mechanisms justify. Autonomy should be progressive and revocable.
